"Captain G"

My dad was one of those 'Bigger than life' individuals. Hard working, capable and tenacious he provided an example on which to model my own life. Together with my mom, Joanna, they maintained a stable loving home for my brother, sister and I to thrive. I will forever be grateful. He was always our Captain but he went the extra step to study for, take, and pass the official New York State Captains licenses test.

Thus qualifing as  "Cap'n G".

A Tribute in the Memory of
Sidney J. Greene

Our Captain will be sorely missed 1924 - 2006

Man, Husband,
Father and Friend

Sidney Greene touched many lives and always made an impression. He was forever working on some project or another, weather it was a concrete fishpond for the backyard or a sailboat's teak deck that took four years to finish. Like a Bulldog he would persistently work on anything he was doing until it was completed.
Though he could be quite caustic at times, he was passionate about life and the world around him
His interests were wide and varied. Most od all, he loved "his" Atlantic Ocean, the beach, boats and wood working. He collected tools as if they were fine art.
He would disappear for hours saying he was going to the work shop to "Pick up and put away". But during those hours he would mostly just enjoy being surrounded by his STUFF.
He was a good man, a good husband, a good father, and a good friend.
Our Captain will be sorely missed.

  • "To the best of my inability"
  • "I think it's time to do some serious drinking!"
  • "If you got what you paid for, it was a bargain"
  • "Now that's worth eating"
  • "Put it in high!"
  • "You dumb shitbird"
  • "To whom am I speaking. To what person?"

Sid's Early Days

Sail boats were always a big deal to Sid. During WWII he served aboard a sailing reconnaissance ship in the Philippians.
